Posting from my laptop. Yeah, I got myself a shiny new laptop - an Acer 4720Z with 2 GB DDR2 RAM, X3100 graphics card (who said you can't play games on a laptop? It plays the Sims2 like a charm), Dual Core 1.6 Ghz, 160 GB HDD and all the other regular features. What made me buy it? The electricity problem. I also had a good deal of money saved up and decided that it would serve my purpose best by relieving myself of the loadshedding tension. We had 1 hour of blackout today which barely ate up 11% of the laptop's charge which it promptly replenished in something over half an hour. Serves me!
Did some GMAT reading, then browsed up to Darden's web site (yeah, I got the spelling wrong on my last post, Darden, not Durden). Read a student blog there, by Anand Rao. Interesting. Holds my somewhat fleeting interest together.
Must also add that Sims2 was a great relief after so long (Vista won't play it unpatched). It plays great on the laptop too. Good job, Acer (pats the laptop). Hopefully I won't become addicted/obsessed and keep my focus. Iain M. Banks had a nice quote about it. People generally come out of obsessions because in the long run it allows for less diversity. The exact quote is in my desktop, of course, and I am too lazy to fetch it for your pleasure. BTW, I am thoroughly enjoying Banks' 'Player of Games'.
My browsing of GMAC.com on Friday lead me to an interesting piece of information: GMAT can predict MBA peformance much better (.48) than your undergrad grades (~.28). Combined, the prediction rate goes up to .53. Not bad, and I am relearning a lot of good math after a while.
